The Western Cape Department of Human Settlements is proud to announce that it will soon start with the building of an additional 100 housing opportunities in Lutzville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is scheduled to be handed over to residents from the community this financial year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ntobeko Mbingeleli, spokesperson of Tertuis Simmers, Provincial Minister of Infrastructure, says construction at the Lutzville Housing Development Project began in 2019, with 327 housing opportunities guaranteed upon completion. \u201cThe project has already delivered 100 houses and 327 sites, and is on track for full completion by the end of the 2024 financial year,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He adds that in this financial year, this development is expected to deliver a further 100 housing opportunities to deserving qualifying beneficiaries who will receive keys to their homes to mark a new chapter in their lives. \u201cThe 100 housing opportunities will be delivered against a budget of R20 363 000.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simmers says it is great to see first-hand the delight and joy this development has brought to this community. \u201cThrough this project we have not only changed the lives of the community by providing homes, but we have managed to unlock economic opportunities for job seekers and local entrepreneurs,\u201d says Simmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would like to commend the community, contractors and the spheres of government for working together and ensuring steady progress in this project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis has ensured that the development continues to grow and shows success.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project was recently approved for an expansion of an additional 35 service sites, that will coincide with the construction of the balance of 162 houses to mark the completion of the project in the 2023-\u201924 financial year, with 362 housing opportunities created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A budget of R27 300 000 has been allocated for this. Through the project, economic opportunities have been unlocked for 18 small, medium and micro enterprises (SMME\u2019s) and a creation of 93 local job opportunities to date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
