Wat dan? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My dogter het na bewering die spoedgrens oortree en aangesien die motor op my naam geregistreer is, moes die kennisgewing en \/ of SMS na my gestuur gewees het, maar dit het nooit gebeur nie. \u2019n SMS is na my vrou, wat nie eens \u2019n motor besit nie, gestuur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ek het op my banktoepassing ingegaan om te kyk of ek die boete kon betaal, net om nog ses verkeersoortredings te vind \u2013 een vir my motor en vyf vir haar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geen van die dagvaardings is ooit op my beteken nie en nooit is enige kennisgewings en\/of SMS-boodskappe aan my gestuur nie. Nou hoe nou?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nou word jy langs die pad afgetrek net om te hoor boetes en \/ of lasbriewe is uitstaande en jy word dalk opgesluit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alvorens \u2019n lasbrief uitgereik kan word, moet die dagvaarding ingevolge die Strafproseswet persoonlik op die oortreder beteken word, maar etlike wetstoepassers weet dit nie eens nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ek dra kennis van oortreders wat al so in die polisieselle beland het en geen dagvaardings, kennisgewings en \/ of SMS boodskappe ontvang het nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><superbyline><br>\n <name>Johann Groenewald, <\/name><\/superbyline><\/p>\n\n\n\n<address>Weskus<\/address>\n\n\n\n<p><answer>Saldanha Bay Municipality responds: Saldanha Bay Municipality\u2019s traffic department makes use of a service provider to run its Backoffice. The service provider issues SMS messages to the public to remind them of outstanding fines or to inform them that a summons is in process for not paying the outstanding fine(s). We have found in most cases that individuals do not update their personal information (change of address and contact numbers) at the traffic department in order to update the Natis system with their new personal details. This is one of the main reasons why individuals do not receive any communication from us regarding their outstanding fines. Please also note that Reg 52 (1) r\/w sec 89 of the NRTA 2000, states that \u201cOwner failing to notify appropriate registering authority of permanent address within 21 days of change\u201d is liable to a fine of R500. <\/answer><answer>The traffic department is aware that not all individuals receive notifications regarding their outstanding fines (341s). We have therefore introduced the smart combi operations as well as the monthly traffic fines roadshows by visiting various shopping centres within the Saldanha Bay municipal area to bring services closer to the community and to give residents the opportunity to enquire about any outstanding fines to make representation for a reduction in their fines to pay it. <\/answer><answer>Saldanha Bay Municipality ensures motorists that we will not and do not have the right to arrest anyone for outstanding fines at a roadblock. It is illegal.
