{"id":54789,"date":"2022-11-21T06:01:19","date_gmt":"2022-11-21T04:01:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/weslander\/haweveiligheid-onder-die-loep-20221116-2\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T13:18:40","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T11:18:40","slug":"haweveiligheid-onder-die-loep-20221116-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/weslander\/haweveiligheid-onder-die-loep-20221116-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Haweveiligheid onder die loep"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Inwoners van die St. Helenabaai-hawe is opnuut bekommerd oor hul veiligheid by die hawe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit is grootliks in die lig van die moord op die bekende sakeman en mede-eienaar van BP Marine, Pedro Bernard, op 14 Oktober.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volgens Aletta Kleynhans, wat al die afgelope drie jaar in die hawe woon, het sy skote gehoor afgaan op die aand van die voorval, wat haar tot nou nog skrikkerig maak oor veiligheid in die hawe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTans sit twee mense in die aande in die hokkie by die toegang van die hawe, maar verder het enigiemand steeds vrye toegang,\u201d vertel sy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kleynhans het aan <span>Weslander<\/span> genoem dat voorvalle enige tyd van die dag of nag kan gebeur, en dus is veiligheidswagte dringend nodig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In \u2019n poging om die hawe skoon te hou en om wegkruipplekke te belemmer, werk Kleynhans daagliks daaraan om die hawe skoon te hou en veral oorgroeide bosse en takke te verwyder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDie sekuriteits-<i>beam<\/i> in die hawe is buite werking; as dit werk, sal dit veiligheid baie verbeter. Mense jaag ook met voertuie in die hawe en ek glo spoedwalle sal dit stop.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kleynhans het ook klem daarop gel\u00ea dat veiligheid by ander hawens streng toegepas word, maar nie juis by die St. Helenabaai-hawe nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo nou en dan patrolleer die polisie en ADT hier, maar verder is alles steeds dieselfde.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Albi Modise, \u2019n woordvoerder van die departement van bosbou, visserye en omgewingsake, s\u00ea die departement werk daaraan om private veiligheidsmaatskappye deur middel van \u2019n tender aan te stel.
