The teams of Vredenburg Tennis Club are once again competing in the South Boland League in both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s singles divisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the festive season, practice commenced in all earnestness at the club in preparation for the league matches, which started on Saturday 4 February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The men\u2019s 1st team, captained by Brian Barnard, are showing their mettle with an undefeated record in all their matches to date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After initial losses by the women\u2019s 1st team, women\u2019s 2nd team and men\u2019s 2nd team, each showed its fighting spirit afterwards with convincing performances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barnard is confident the men\u2019s 1st team will continue their winning streak, after victories against Strand, Bottelary and Rekreasie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gerda Botha of the women\u2019s first team is planning their comeback after narrowly losing to Strand, Rekreasie and Vlottenburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After suffering an unexpected defeat against Country Club, the women of the second team, captained by Janome Miggel and Anna-Mari Fitchet, were fired-up to win their next two matches against Strand and Bottelary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a loss against Worcester, which forced them back to the drawing board, the men\u2019s 2nd team, captained by Andr\u00e9 Pretorius, trumped Brackenfell and David Samaai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All teams were in a good position to compete for the finals with impressive performances against strong opposition in the Boland region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
