Sea Harvest\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s firefighting teams stole the show at the International Firefighter\u2019s Day competition hosted by the Cape Winelands District Municipality in Stellenbosch on Thursday 4 May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both teams outperformed their counterparts, clocking the fastest time for completion of an obstacle course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sea Harvest Head of Engineering and Safety, Health and Environment (SHE), Cliffton Rajgopaul, said: \u201cWe are extremely proud of every member of our firefighting teams, including those who were not able to participate in the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey have demonstrated incredible skill and discipline, not only at the competition, but also during their training and, in that, they have brought honour to Sea Harvest and elevated our brand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten of the top firefighting teams across the Western Cape participated in the International Firefighter\u2019s Day competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The teams had to complete various activities in the perfect opportunity to showcase their skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sea Harvest men\u2019s team recorded a time of six minutes and 24 seconds, the fastest time on the day, while the women\u2019s team won their category and outscored three professional men\u2019s teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rajgopaul added congratulations were also due to the Sea Harvest firefighting team leaders, Grantley de Villiers and Edwado Carstens, for their leadership and tireless efforts outside competition days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carstens said it was an honour to represent Sea Harvest against professional fire brigades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was something big to compete against professionals,\u201d he said. \u201cWe do the small things great, which is why we train two times per week. Our motto is \u2018One team, one dream\u2019, and that is to become the best firefighting team in South Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn the last Marsh Risk Group (MRG) Firefighting Competition held in Johannesburg in 2020 we ranked third, meaning we were the best firefighting team in the whole of South Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLater this year, in October, we will participate in the Western Cape MRG Firefighting Competition and, if we make it into the Top 5, we will go to the nationals in March 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
