Recreational Fishing Permit Applications are now online through the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). Recreational fishers can immediately start using the platform to apply for their monthly and annual Recreational Fishing Permits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe online permitting system will enable enthusiastic recreational fishers and members of the public to easily access a recreational permit without having to travel distances to find a Post Office. Applicants will be able to choose the type of permit they require, select the period of validity, process payments and download the permit,\u201d said Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Barbara Creecy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development of the solution came as a result of the challenges faced by the department in issuing recreational fishing permits to the public through the South African Post Office. Given the recent closure of a number of the Post Offices, the department embarked on a process to develop an inhouse online platform to ensure accessibility for the public to purchase the recreational fishing permits electronically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The solution provides applicants with functional options to register, apply and obtain permits for recreational fishing in South African waters. Fishers will now simply go through the steps online and ultimately download the necessary permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department\u2019s online platform is complimentary to the Post Office issued permits, which means members of the public can still visit their nearest Post Office for their permits if they so choose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
