The Laaiplek Community Policing Forum (CPF) will hold their annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 17 September at 18:00 in the Velddrif town hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AO Adele Visser emphasised that all community organisations are invited to attend the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CPF creates an important platform for role players to work together to ensure that the community\u2019s needs are addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The South African Constitution makes provision for CPFs to bring together community organisations and the police in a partnership to find solutions to safety and security issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CPF also promotes cooperation between the parties to protect the community from criminal activities and thus create a safe environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CPF is also a civilian body which checks and promotes the efficiency, accountability and transparency of the local police. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe increase in crime in our area requires us all to ensure that the CPF assists the police effectively in finding ways to combat crime and deal with our area-specific problems,\u201d said Visser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Interested organisations are asked to register as CPF members and nominate their representative before the AGM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
