People from far and wide attended in large numbers to show their support for the 2024 Walk for Recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its third run, this annual event took place on Saturday 12 October in Langebaan. The Walk for Recovery was over 5 km and concluded at the Seabreeze Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hosted by Heavenly Haven Retreat (HHR), founder Ruth McPherson said the day was a remarkable success. She was happy to share that people of all ages came together all united in support of this unprecedented cause. \u201cThe turnout far exceeded our expectations and highlighted how deeply our community values unity, resilience, and the power of collective healing,\u201d said McPherson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was the first time the Walk for Recovery and the Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness were combined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe purpose was two-fold; to celebrate the strength of individuals battling and overcoming addiction, and to raise awareness and support for those affected by breast cancer. By uniting these two causes we wanted to highlight the shared journey of recovery, resilience and hope. It\u2019s about recognising that, while each fight is unique we are stronger when we stand together. HHR believes in not just offering support, but creating a powerful movement of change and empowerment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Describing the atmosphere as electric and the weather being great, McPherson believed the day had left everyone with lasting memories and strong connections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the core message is that together we can conquer even the most difficult battles. Whether it\u2019s addiction, illness, or any other struggle, no-one should have to walk that journey alone. The Walk to Recovery is more than an event; it\u2019s a reminder that the family here on the West Coast is a united one, its members committed to supporting one another in every step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
McPherson said she wanted residents to remember that by participating they not only showed support, but also became part of a movement that says \u201cYour fight is our fight\u201d. \u201cThis walk is about hope, healing and the power of community.
