To give back and to help those in need, is what gives Toboy Menziwa great joy.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The humble groundsman of St Helena Bay police station has turned his passion of growing vegetables into a way of providing means of a meal to the vulnerable.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently he handed over vegetables to Die Eilandhuis vir Gestremdes, in St Helena Bay which will in turn help provide residents with a nourished meal.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Toboy, he has been working as a groundsman for the past eleven years, transferring from Elandsbay to St Helena Bay police station seven years ago.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I do what I love and I have a great relationship with the people at the station. Starting in Elandsbay with the vegetable garden, I saw an opportunity to give back. I started planting seeds, saw the vegetables grow and began by sponsoring them to the creches there. I also noted that there were seasonal workers in need and people were struggling.” Moving to St Helena Bay where his family resides, Toboy saw the same opportunity at his new job and with the help of the station commander and colleagues of the police station, he was able to work the ground and plant seeds.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The team assisted me a lot. It makes me feel good to give back as I am part and parcel of the community leaders. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I plant pumpkin, carrots, tomatoes, spinach and much more, vegetables that are needed in households.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Toboy reiterates that it is his passion to give back and help others. He wishes to expand and grow more in order to help many more people, especially in the community where he lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
