Vital Connection in Diazville, Saldanha,’s community programs are literally keeping people alive and Transnet Saldanha Bay has therefore decided to make a much-needed donation from maize meal and sugar to new saucepans and whiteboards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Devodine le Fleur said during the handover on Friday 31 October that this moment is not just a handover, “it is a heartfelt recognition of the partnerships, commitment and shared vision that have brought us here”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Vital Connection has long stood as a beacon of hope and support in our community, with a mission rooted in care, empowerment and sustainable development. Our programs are designed to lift families, nurture children, support the elderly and strengthen livelihoods \u2013 because we believe that every person deserves dignity, opportunity and connection,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shadrack Tshikalange, Port Manager for the Saldanha Port (Transnet National Ports Authority), said Transnet donates goods to community organisations as part of its Corporate Social Investment initiatives. He encouraged the children to be purposeful, as they are the future port managers, tugboat drivers and harbour captains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group of Transnet staff members kept the children entertained and showed their care. Learners from St Andrew’s Primary and Diazville High School presented items on mental health. “It’s ok not to feel ok. It’s not ok not to talk about it,” was one striking message. Vital Connection provides essential care and guidance to families and serves a lunch to a group of elderly people from the Indlu Yothando Senior Citizens’ Club on weekdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They also provide daily nutritious meals for vulnerable families. Then there is the Oppie Galloppie Preschool and the Precious Kids Baby Care. According to le Fleur, this Transnet donation represents a renewed commitment that helps them continue to build, support and connect lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She thanked Transnet as well as the educators, caregivers and volunteers. “Your dedication is the heartbeat of Vital Connection.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
