Four volleyball-playing members of the West Coast Police District excelled at the National Police Volleyball Championships held in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, from 7 to 12 September.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Col Shez Moodley from the West Coast Police District Office the championship concluded with historic victories for the Western Province teams, “showcasing exceptional talent and determination on the court.” \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moodley was the coach for both the male and female teams.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that in a moment of triumph the Western Province women’s team claimed gold for the very first time, defeating Gauteng in the finals with a decisive 3-0 victory. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This milestone achievement marks a new chapter for the team, displaying both skill and unity throughout the tournament.”\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the men’s side Western Province also delivered a strong performance, advancing to the finals where they faced Gauteng. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Despite their best efforts, the men had to settle for the silver medal, narrowly missing out on the top spot.”\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The other three players from the West Coast were Sgt J Carolissen of the K9 Unit, Sgt L Cupido of Malmesbury Police Station and Sgt C Carolissen of Vredenburg Police Station. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“They brought pride to their organisation through their outstanding performances,” Moodley said.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carolissen and Sgt J Salie (Tactical Response Team) also received special awards as Best Defenders. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Their defensive prowess and consistency on the court were instrumental in their teams’ progress,” Moodley said.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brig Bavuma, Acting District Commissioner, praised the players and coach for their achievements. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She remarked: “Our members have once again demonstrated the spirit of excellence. Their victories have flown the West Coast District flag high, and we are immensely proud of their contributions to the championships.”\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
