Die polisiespeurder Wayne Wantza (42), wat na bewering Saterdag verskeie skote in Schoongezichtstraat, Wellington, afgeskiet het waartydens sy eksmeisie ernstig gewond is en haar nuwe k\u00earel, Petrus Jacobs (49) dood is, het Maandag in die landdroshof op Wellington verskyn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die klagstaat identifiseer Wantza se eksmeisie as Elzaan Gelant. Sy is glo sewe keer deur Wantza geskiet, maar het wonderbaarlik oorleef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wantza word aangekla van moord met voorbedagte rade sowel as poging tot moord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Provinsiale polisiewoordvoerder, Brig. Novela Potelwa, het bevestig dat Jacobs, wie afkomstig is van Chicago in Paarl-Oos, tydens die skietery dood is, terwyl Gelant ernstige beserings opgedoen het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gelant sterk tans in die hospitaal aan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die verdagte het Maandag emosieloos in die beskuldigdebank gesit en het deurgaans ondertoe gekyk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die saak is tot 13 Augustus uitgestel vir \u2019n formele borgaansoek. Die verdediging sal dan aanvoer waarom Wantza op borgtog vrygelaat behoort te word. Hy bly dus in aanhouding totdat die aansoek aangehoor word. Die staat het aangedui dat hy borgtog sal teenstaan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wantza is op 26 Julie in Moorreesburg in hegtenis geneem nadat hy glo n\u00e1 die voorval vanaf die toneel gevlug het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens berigte het die skietvoorval ontstaan uit \u2019n beweerde liefdesdriehoek. Jacobs was ten tyde van sy dood getroud, maar volgens inligting vervreem van sy vrou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Potelwa het ges\u00ea dat Wantza op die dag van die voorval by Jacobs se woning opgedaag het en Gelant, met wie hy voorheen \u2019n verhouding gehad het, genader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVolgens inligting vanaf die toneel het die polisielid by die oorledene se woning opgedaag en die vroulike slagoffer genader. Nadat hy haar opsy geneem en met haar gepraat het, het hy glo op beide die man en die vrou losgebrand,\u201d het sy ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gelant is glo van Bishop Lavis op die Kaapse Vlakte, het Netwerk24<\/em> berig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tydens die hofverskyning het dit aan die lig gekom dat Wantza as speurder ernstige en gewelddadige misdade, insluitend bendeverwante sake, ondersoek het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy was verbonde aan die Kleinvlei-polisiekantoor, soos berig deur Netwerk24.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens die klagstaat woon Wantza ook in Kleinvlei. Hy het volgens inligting wat Paarl Post<\/em> bekom het, as sersant gedien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy regsverteenwoordiger, Andrew Brown, het aangevoer dat Wantza se werk hom aan gevaar blootgestel het en dat die media dus nie foto’s van hom moet neem of publiseer nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die landdros het di\u00e9 versoek egter van die hand gewys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daar is ook beweer dat die polisiekantoor waar Wantza werksaam was, op 21 Mei vanjaar geteiken is toe gewapende aanvallers 32 skote op die gebou afgevuur het – vermoedelik as gevolg van onlangse bende-verwante arrestasies in die gebied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacobs, oorspronklik van die Paarl, het by Metrorail gewerk en was \u2019n toegewyde ondersteuner van die Lower Paarl Blues-rugbyklub. Sy betrokkenheid by die klub spruit uit \u2019n lang familieverbintenis, met sy pa wat \u2019n jarelange speler van die klub was en steeds \u2019n lojale ondersteuner is, volgens Thomas du Plessis, die klub se sekretaris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
