After a successful sanitary drive in April, the Likhona Ithemba Foundation made its first drop-off at New Vredenburg High School on Wednesday 28 May.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is an initiative started by Nosipho Lisa, founder of Likhona Ithemba Foundation. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Siphosethu Legoabe (Dudu), who works alongside Lisa on the project, said the day was a great success. “We had a chat with the learners about their understanding of menstruation as well as hygiene methods during the time. Pick n Pay Ipic Vredenburg also offered 100 more pads on the day.” \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Nomvula Dingaan-Moss, principal of New Vredenburg High School, the donation is deeply meaningful to the school. “It reflects a powerful act of care and solidarity, particularly towards our girl learners. Access to sanitary products is a basic need, yet many of our learners face challenges in this regard, taking into consideration their background. By providing these essentials the donation helps restore dignity, boosts self-confidence and reduce absenteeism related to menstrual health. It enables our girls to fully participate in their education without interruption or embarrassment, in this way improving their academic performance and overall well-being.
