Returning home a middleweight bronze medallist, Mighty Sangoni (17) has not only made his school proud, but the West Coast as well.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The young boxer from Diazville High School represented his town and school at the African Boxing Confederation youth men’s and women’s Boxing Championship in Conakry, Guinea, between Friday 16 and Sunday 26 May.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At this prestigious tournament he had the opportunity to climb into the ring with some of the best boxers across the continent, showing hard work, dedication and determination do pay off. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school also thanked his coaches, Thando Nkayi and Lebogang Motabogi as well as the Saldanha Military Base for their unwavering support and top-tier training that made this incredible opportunity possible.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ivan Dwashu, sports coordinator at Diazville High School, said he is incredibly proud of Mighty and all he had achieved. \r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This is no ordinary achievement. Mighty has faced difficult circumstances that would have discouraged many, but instead of giving up he pushed forward with determination, heart and discipline. His success is not just a personal victory; it’s a powerful message to all our learners and the broader community that greatness can still arise from our school and our town.\r<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Mighty, you have become a symbol of hope. You’ve shown that no matter where you come from or what challenges lie in your path, with perseverance and courage you can still rise.
