With parents applying for more than one school for their children, the total number of individual applications to schools received at the time of going to print was 298 530.
The 2024 online application process is open until 23:59 on Friday 14 April 2023.
This means parents have two weeks left in which to get their applications in on time.
Western Cape Minister of Education, David Maynier, said it was extremely important for parents to apply on time for the coming school year, so its department can plan more effectively for placement for their children.
“We have had a few technical niggles along the way, which is expected with the change to a new system,” he said. “However, the move away from the notoriously unstable national government State Information and Technology Agency (Sita) system has proven to be the right one. While Sita services experienced outages, our admissions system has remained up and running since the applications window opened,” he said.
Maynier said parents who experienced technical problems are able to log a query using the “contact us” option at the top of the admissions page, and they will assist parents with technical issues to resolve each and every problem as soon as possible.
“Our technical team worked long hours throughout weekends and the public holiday to follow up on any outstanding queries.
“We have also kicked off our pop-up stalls to assist parents in person across the province, with schools and malls hosting our officials to capture applications for parents who do not have access to the internet.
“Don’t wait! Apply for a school for your child today.”
