Parkview Primary in Avondale received a donation of R151 000 worth in computers and surveillance technology from Capitec Bank. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funds to purchase this equipment were raised through The Color Run Cape Town and Stellenbosch. The bank donates R10 from each ticket, which goes towards upliftment of vulnerable schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Parkview donation takes the form of 12 brand new computers along with security surveillance cameras placed throughout the school property to ensure a safer environment for learners in a gang-infested region. Capitec will also provide training and software maintenance for learners and teachers, ensuring optimal use of the resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Principal Waldemar Kastoor says the donation comes down to fostering a quality learning environment for learners. \u201cMany of our learners come from impoverished families and face significant challenges in getting to school,\u201d he said. \u201cCapitec has given us state-of-the-art resources we\u2019ve struggled to provide, while also fostering a safe environment that our learners can thrive in.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The donation follows Capitec and CSI partner, Adopt-A-School\u2019s sponsoring of supplementary science and maths classes to learners at sister school Atlantis Secondary in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
