The Atlantis Special Economic Zone Company (ASEZCo) announced the winners of its inaugural Atlantis Change Challenge for the Primary, Secondary and College students of Atlantis, Witsand, Pella and Mamre on Thursday 21 April. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Charlotte Perrang of the SEZ explained the Atlantis Change Challenge 2022 (ACC2022) aims to create awareness of the concept of green economy and introduce the objectives of the ASEZCo among youth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the ACC2022 is directed at school learners and college students with a view to challenging and supporting them as they make positive changes today to influence tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this year\u2019s challenge students were invited to submit their prototype\/model demonstrating how renewable energy can bring change to their schools, college and community by incorporating elements of the green economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judging took place at the ASEZ offices on Tuesday 12 April, where students presented their models to judges and demonstrated how these models worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Team Hybrid from Wesfleur Primary took first prize in primary school category. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The skilful youth team from Atlantis School of Skills won the secondary school category, while Team Hactor from West Coast College took the honours in their category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mpho Tshotetsi, West Coast College student who was part of the winning team said: \u201cParticipating in ACC2022 introduced me to the Renewable Energy concept, which was completely new to me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am a student of Electrical Engineering, and this competition provided me with a deeper understanding of Greentech and how it can be used successfully in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rene Ryk an ECD representative from the ASEZ community stakeholders network said the competition helped the local community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAtlantis as a community has matured being a part of ACC2022,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
