Bluegums United, the Bonteheuwel, Cape Town soccer club, was crowned champions of the Robinvale Spurs\u2019 annual tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the tournament, which took place over the second weekend of March at Robinvale Sports Field, Bluegum beat a spirited Greenwood team on penalties in a contested, but exciting match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both teams had the crowd of about 3 000 people jumping and cheering as the game switched from one end to the other, with Bluegums taking the overall winner\u2019s prize of R5 000 and a floating trophy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Greenwood was the runner-up, walking away with a cash prize of R3 000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the play-offs for the third and fourth place, Hanover Leeds walked off with a whopping R2 000 third prize and Everton Spurs R1 000, with a score of 3-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wesfleur was the only club from Atlantis that reached the quarter-finals, losing to Greenwood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
None of the local participating clubs \u2013 Robinvale Spurs, Atlantis City, Arsenal or Atlantis Leeds \u2013 showed any form on the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
