Youth should be equipped, supported, empowered and trained in entrepreneurial enterprises to partake in future economic opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This, according to the West Coast Youth Forum (WCYF) and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), which held a joint information session on Friday 12 July at the Saxon Sea Civic Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entrepreneurial programme session also introduced the services to youth engaged in, or interested in, business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local youth expressed interest in business and partaking in the developing local economy, but lacked the necessary skills and support, said Peter Stoffberg of the youth forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOthers had little knowledge and were misinformed on what processes to follow in entering entrepreneurial pursuits,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stoffberg personally offered his services for formally registering businesses and ensuring they comply with the relevant government agencies\u2019 conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the youth entrepreneurs\u2019 further empowerment, Stoffberg said the NYDA and WCYBC will jointly undertake to upskill them in a five-day entrepreneurship course that will be hosted later this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme will cover aspects such as business support, access to market, business plan development, marketing plans, other training as well as mentorship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
