I am a long-time resident of our little town, and I am writing to express my concern about the number of disabled parking bays we have around the town, especially around the shopping centres. The little we do have are constantly occupied by non-disabled people. I have to express my concerns to the Centre Manager Tony September, who said he will follow-up on the matter with Captain Dicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At Shoprite Mall the available parking bays are 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entrance 1: Only has 1 bay. Entrance 2: 2 Bays Entrance 3: None<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pick n Pay Mall : No Disabled Parking bays available. The Centre manager has informed me that the parking bays belong to the City Of Cape Town. I visited the Mayoral Office in November 2019 and expressed my concerns, but to date I have not received any feedback on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The old shopping centre has only 1 disabled parking bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Magistrate\u2019s Court: 1 disabled bay, which is always occupied by one of its employees. I just feel we are being failed as disabled people in Atlantis. No compassion is being showed. My motto: \u201cIf one parks in a disabled bay one is willing and ready to have my disability as well.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why should we as disabled people prefer to go to a mall outside town (Table Bay Mall, Bayside Mall or Canal Walk) where there a more demarcated parking bays? Wheel clamping should be permitted in the above-mentioned areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
