Indigent support campaign<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Households whose income is R7 500 or less per month can benefit from debt write-offs if they have not already received a once-off write-off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A team will visit local communities to offer assistance to residents in completing their applications. Dates and venues will be communicated in due course, but residents are encouraged to visit the City\u2019s website as well as social-media channels to check on dates, times and venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are also equipped to assist with pensioner-support applications and general account enquiries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cResidents are often unsure about the various application processes and how they work,\u201d said Mayco Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi, \u201cand with this campaign we are hoping to help residents right on their doorstep. For residents who are unable to attend a roadshow we encourage them to visit our website for more information on the available support, to contact our call centre or to visit their nearest Walk-In Centre. We ask that residents inform their family members, neighbours and loved ones about the roadshows and the City\u2019s indigent support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indigent applicants who are successfully registered need only re-apply every 12 months from the date of approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pensioners <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Applications from residents 60 years and older will remain valid until the next municipal valuation of their property comes into effect, which is expected to be from 30 June 2026 or until a supplementary valuation is implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City also offers free water of 15 kl, free sanitation services at 10,5 kl, up to 60 free electricity units, and the most of every metro linking social relief to property value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n A Spring clean<\/b>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City encourages all communities, residents and businesses to join in the #SpringCleanCT campaign, which aims to mobilise communities against illegal dumping and littering by organising clean-ups in their areas as well as reporting illegal dumping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents are encouraged to use the 24-hour toll-free number (0800 110077) for illegal dumping tip-offs or to email Solidwaste.bylaw@capetown.gov.za. Include as much info as possible. The department has launched various awareness and clean-up campaigns along with Bingo the Mascot at schools and in partnership with community driven clean-up initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mass Feeding Event \u2013 Wolverivier<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A successful mass feeding event took place on 16 September arranged by Cllr Swart and hosted by Sri Sathya Sai Global Council South Africa Western Cape Region for the residents of Wolverivier and Olive Close in Ward 23 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ECD Training Event \u2013 Ward 29<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 20 ECD Centres took part in a two day Health and Safety training workshop, which included training in evacuation and site plans. The training took place on 12 September for the principals of ECDs and the teachers attending on 16 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
