The Crime Prevention Unit attached to the Atlantis Police Station was alerted to a shooting at 01:45 in Buffelsnek, Sherwood Park, Atlantis. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On their arrival at the scene, an unknown male was coming along and, on seeing the police vehicle, he turned around and started running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect had a firearm on him, which was confiscated by the police when they arrested him. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 17-year-old, from Concordia Street, Sherwood Park, was charged with possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another 17-year-old boy was shot three times in St Antonio Street, Saxonsea. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kapt. Lisa Munro van die Atlantis police said that on their arrival, the police found a male with three gunshot wounds to the body. It is believed the victim was standing with friends in the street when a man came along and fired shots at them, hitting the victim twice in the back and once in the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Law Enforcement was patrolling when they saw a man running from the crime scene with a firearm. They gave chase, arrested the suspect, and retrieved an illegal firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another case involved a murder that took place in Hardenberg Street, Mamre on 9 April 2024 investigated by Donovan Christian, the lead detective in the case at the Atlantis Police Station. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that the victim, a 54-year-old woman, Cathleen Arends, was walking in Hardenberg Street when she was approached by a man who stabbed her and ran away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim managed to walk to her house, where she collapsed and bled to death. She was certified dead at the scene by the paramedics. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a thorough investigation, Jolene Williams (28) from Mamre was arrested and appeared in the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court. On 25 June, she was found guilty in the Atlantis Regional Court and sentenced to 15 years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
