Warrant Officer Richard van Rooyen spoke to about 60 children on the topics of safety, drug abuse and bullying at a soup kitchen held during the school holidays at Ghika Street, Saxonsea, Atlantis. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Captain Lisa Munro, police spokesperson, said the children enjoyed the talks and had plenty of questions to ask. She said the talk was not just a talk, but gave the children the opportunity to interact with the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Van Rooyen explained to them what to do if older kids wanted to bully them or were busy with crime. Munro said that more of these interactions in various areas will occur soon. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warrant Officer Murray de Kock, in partnership with the Neighbourhood Watch, assisted Witsand Primary School with its Fun Walk from Chris Hani Road, Witsand, to Old Mamre Darling Road, Atlantis, and back to school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
De Kock also spoke to about 200 learners about the role of the police, Munro said. He emphasised to the learners that the police are their friends and not the enemy. Road safety tips were also shared with the learners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
