The Thabo Mofutsanyana District Crime Combating Highway Patrol unit arrested two foreign nationals who tried to hijack a diesel truck about 20 km outside Paul Roux towards Senekal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday (24\/03) at 23:50, the driver of a diesel truck that was on its way from Durban to Bloemfontein noticed that he was being followed by three vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was forced off the road and the suspects climbed onto the trailer to try to unhitch it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver fled the scene in fear for his life and called the Paul Roux police for assistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police immediately activated the Highway Patrol on the N5, who found the truck and two suspects with jamming devices and arrested them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police warn truck drivers to be vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious vehicles or persons on the road. The re-deployment and additional visibility of 24\/7 patrol vehicles were actioned by the provincial commissioner\u2019s office on national roads to mitigate truck and car hijackings, as well as cash-in-transit incidents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
