A masters swimmer from Kroonstad did well at the 37th National Masters Swimming Championship held in March at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) Swimming Pool in Bellville. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was the 12th national competition for Barbara Fraatz (56), on which she embarked with great zeal after nearly two years of no swimming due to the Covid-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She swam in six individual events in the age group 55 to 59 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also swam in four relay events \u2013 here all four participants\u2019 ages are added together to qualify them for taking part as a team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All the events she swam in were long course (LC) events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Individually, Fraatz was first in the 200 m freestyle in a time of 2:38.88. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was second in the 100 m freestyle in 1:11.81 and third in the 100 m backstroke in 1:27.50. She was second in the 50 m freestyle in 32.57, second in the in the 50 m butterfly in 38.40 and fourth in the 50 m backstroke in 39.57. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the relay, age group 200 to 239, her team was second in the 4 x 50 m freestyle for women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rest of the relay events she took part in were in the age group 240 to 279. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her team was first in the 4 x 50 m medley for women, second in the mixed 4 x 50 m freestyle, second in the mixed 4 x 100 m freestyle and sixth in the mixed 4 x 50 m medley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
