Kom, Here Jesus!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daar word vertel dat, tydens sy soektog na die Suidpool, Lord Shackleton na die vasteland moes terugkeer om voorrade aan te vul. Hy kon nie sy hele geselskap saamneem nie en het sommige van sy mense agtergelaat op die onherberg\u00adsame Elephant-eiland \u2013 eintlik net \u2019n troostelose vlakte van ys en sneeu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die dag toe Shackleton vanaf die eiland vertrek het, het hy elkeen wat agterbly persoonlik belowe dat hy sou terugkeer om hulle te kom haal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e1 baie ontberings het Shackleton Suid-Georgia bereik. Hier het hy \u2019n nuwe skip en voorrade bekom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So spoedig moontlik het Shackleton die terugtog aangepak en baie hard probeer om Elephant-eiland te bereik, maar sy pogings het keer op keer misluk weens die gevare van drywende pakys. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heel onverwags was daar op \u2019n dag \u2019n ongewone gaping in die pakys. Shackleton het vinnig ingegaan, sy mense opgepik en na veiligheid teruggekeer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e1 al die opwinding wou Shackleton weet: \u201cHoe het dit gekom dat julle almal met alles ingepak en gereed op die kaai vir my gestaan en wag het?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMeneer, jy het belowe om terug te kom,\u201d het die mense van Elephant-eiland geantwoord. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOns het nooit aan jou woord getwyfel en moed opgegee nie. As dit die dag enigsins moontlik gelyk het, het ons ingepak en op die kaai gaan staan en wag.
