Is dit nie net \u2019n glips van \u2019n engeletong nie? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elke jaar sing ons dieselfde bekende Kersliedere. Sodra Kersfees verby is, gaan die ou trant voort. Die bankbalans bly rooi, slegte weer word steeds voorspel en struwelinge duur voort. Is Kersfees nie <span>\u201coverrated\u201d<\/span> nie? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit hang af wat \u2019n mens onder vrede verstaan. Die meeste mense sien vrede as \u2019n menslike produk; die oomblik waarop ons strydbyle begrawe. Die vrede waarvan die engele sing, het sekerlik hiermee te doen, maar het \u2019n algeheel ander konkrete inhoud wat deur die geboorte van die Jesus-kind beliggaam word. Hy is ons vrede. Vrede is iets wat alleen moontlik en blywend is in Hom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die laaste strofe beaam dit: \u201cVir die mense in wie Hy \u2019n welbehae het!\u201d Dit beteken dat God sy vrede bring vir die mens vir wie Hy so oneindig lief is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dat God sondaarmense kan liefh\u00ea, was deur die eeue \u2019n vreemde gedagte. In die Latynse vertaling van die Bybel word die vers omgekeer: \u201cVrede op aarde vir die mense wat in God \u2019n welbehae het\u201d. Dit klink meer logies. Dit is seker tog die mens wat God in die oog het; di\u00e9 wat hulle darem tot God wend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nee, die welbehae waarvan die engele sing, het nie met ons toegene\u00ebnt\u00adheid te doen nie.
