\u2019n Vreedsame optog deur inwoners en belanghebbendes wat hul misnoe\u00eb uitspreek oor die voorsitter van die DBV in Bethlehem se skorsing het die naweek plaasgevind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belanghebbendes uit verskeie oorde het op Saterdag 9 November na die DBV in Bethlehem opgeruk om teenkanting rakende die skorsing van Corlene van der Merwe, voorsitter, uit te spreek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van der Merwe, wat sedert 2010 by die Bethlehemse DBV betrokke is, het op 29 Oktober \u2019n brief van die nasionale liggaam, die NDBV, ontvang met die kennisgewing dat sy geskors word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Van der Merwe, wat die afgelope vier jaar reeds as voorsitter dien, is sy geskors omdat die Bethlehem-tak nie \u2019n perd op die NDBV se aanbeveling van kant wou maak nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie perd is deur \u2019n plaaslike veearts behandel, het goed aangesterk en is gesond. Wat sou die rede wees om \u2019n dier wat gered kon word, van kant te maa?\u201d wil Van der Merwe weet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadat VrystaatKroon <\/span>op 31 Oktober \u2019n navraag aan die NDBV gerig het, is terugvoering van die nasionale liggaam op 6 November ontvang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie idee dat dit die NDBV teen die Bethlehem DBV is, is ongegrond,\u201d s\u00ea Jacques Peacock, woordvoerder van die NDBV. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOns het \u2019n statut\u00eare verpligting om die Wet op DBV\u2019s, en die re\u00ebls wat daarvolgens gemaak word, af te dwing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVerder bestaan die NDBV se raad van direkteure, wat besluite neem ingevolge Artikel 11 van die Wet, ook uit verteenwoordigers van individuele DBV\u2019s en streeks- of provinsiale verteenwoordigers wat deur die DBV\u2019s tydens die jaarlikse algemene vergaderings ingestem is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHierdie besluit word dus nie geneem deur \u2019n paar individue wat \u2019n \u2018vendetta\u2019 het nie \u2013 dit is bereik deur verteenwoordigers van binne die DBV-beweging wat elkeen die geleentheid het om onafhanklik, regverdig en sonder invloed te oorweeg en te stem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van der Merwe het intussen regsadvies bekom en gaan die NDBV voor die hof daag om dit wat volgens haar \u2019n onregmatige beslissing is, tersyde te stel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk het nog altyd in die belang van die diere opgetree. Hulle is immers die DBV se voorkeursaak,\u201d s\u00ea Van der Merwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOmdat daar \u2019n geskil tussen die plaaslike DBV en die NDBV is oor hoe daar na die diere omgesien moet word, is ek geskors,\u201d meen sy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die NDBV het bygevoeg dat Van der Merwe sedert 2017, tot 2024, onderskeidelik as voorsitter en ondervoorsitter gedien het \u2013 en dat, in di\u00e9 tydperk tien 30 dae-briewe vir oortredings rakende die DBV-wetgewing uitgereik is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van der Merwe s\u00ea dat die Bethlehem DBV kort-kort briewe vir geringe oortredings ontvang en dat die Bethlehemse DBV die bevindings teengestaan het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTot op datum is geen terugvoering oor die teenkanting vanaf die NDBV ontvang nie. Ses van die 30-dae briewe het gehandel oor die bewoording in finansi\u00eble state, waaroor ons nie beheer het nie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raadslid Willie Theunissen van die DA in Bethlehem s\u00ea dat die onlangse ingryping deur die NDBV by die plaaslike DBV, wat die verwydering van Van der Merwe uit haar leierskapposisie insluit, is kommerwekkend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHierdie optrede het ernstige kommer gewek, aangesien die NDBV aangedui het dat hulle \u00f3f volle beheer oor die plaaslike tak kan oorneem \u00f3f, in die ergste geval, die gerief heeltemal kan sluit \u2013 \u2019n uitkoms wat tragies sou lei tot die genadedood van die diere in die organisasie se sorg.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n VrystaatKroon <\/span>het verneem dat die minister van landbou, John Steenhuisen oor die voorval ingelig is en ondersoek gaan instel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intussen het Vern\u00e9 Burger, \u2019n inwoner van Clarens en diereaktivis, \u2019n petisie geskep wat \u2019n beroep op Steenhuisen doen om die NDBV dringend te ondersoek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isold\u00e9 Laesecke, onafhanlike raadslid van die Dihlabeng-munisipaliteit het haar dank aan die Bethlehem- en Clarens-gemeenskap uitgespreek wat standpunt ingeneem het deur aan die naweek se optog deel te neem. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
