KATHU <\/strong>\u2013 ‘n\u00a0Donker wolk van rou hang oor die Laerskool Kathu nadat ‘n vroulike onderwyser vanoggend gesterf het toe die skool se bus met leerders en personeel op die N14 tussen Kathu en Kuruman in ‘n ernstige ongeluk betrokke was.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die bus was op Saterdag 13 Junie omstreeks 07:20 onderweg na die Laerskool Seodin in Kuruman, waar rugby- en netbalspanne van die Laerskool Kathu aan die eindronde van die Van Druten-sportliga sou deelneem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die bus het 44 leerders en 10 onderwysers vervoer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens inligting wat aan Nova News beskikbaar gestel is, het die bus teen ‘n vermoedelik stilstaande vragmotor gebots, sowat 10 km buite Kuruman. Die presiese oorsaak van die botsing word deur die polisie ondersoek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skool se personeel swaar getref<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Te midde van die tragedie was daar groot verligting dat geen leerder op die bus ernstige beserings opgedoen het nie. Die kinders is medies ge\u00ebvalueer en het behandeling ontvang.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die ongeluk het egter ‘n swaar tol onder die personeel ge\u00ebis. ‘n Onderwyser het noodlottige beserings opgedoen waaraan sy beswyk het. Vier ander personeellede is ernstig beseer. Van die beseerdes moes per lugambulans na Bloemfontein en Kimberley vervoer word om dringende behandeling te ontvang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kort n\u00e1 die ongeluk het die Laerskool Kathu ‘n boodskap op sy Facebook-blad geplaas waarin die skoolgemeenskap gevra is om die betrokkenes in hul gebede te onthou. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Daar was ‘n ernstige ongeluk met een van ons busse vroe\u00ebr vanoggend op pad Kuruman toe. Ons leerders is ongedeerd. Hou asseblief ons onderwysers, kinders en ouers in jul gebede,” het die skool geskryf.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ondersteuning word gebied<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Die Noord-Kaapse departement van onderwys het in ‘n verklaring ges\u00ea die tragedie het die hele onderwysgemeenskap van die provinsie diep geraak. Die departement het onmiddellik sielkundige en maatskaplike ondersteuning beskikbaar gestel aan leerders, onderwysers en families.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘n Beradingsessie sal op Maandag 15 Junie by die skool aangebied word om die skoolgemeenskap in hierdie moeilike tyd verder te ondersteun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die woordvoerder vir die Noord-Kaapse polisie, adjudant-offisier Molefi Shemane, het bevestig dat die Kuruman-polisie ‘n saak van strafbare manslag ondersoek.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDie bus was met leerlinge van ‘n laerskool in Kathu onderweg na ‘n sportgeleentheid in Kuruman toe die ongeluk plaasgevind het,\u201d het Shemane bevestig. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die polisie het bevestig dat vyf volwassenes, onder wie die bestuurder van die bus, na ‘n hospitaal in Kathu vervoer moes word om mediese behandeling te ontvang. Van die ernstig beseerdes is daarna na Bloemfontein en Kimberley oorgeplaas om verdere spesialisbehandeling te ontvang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
