The swift response from law enforcement resulted in the recovery of approximately 200 kg of stolen cabling and the confiscation of tools used in the crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around 11:00, police set up a surveillance operation based on the information received, leading to the immediate arrest of two suspects. A third suspect was tracked down and apprehended in Mamafubedu. The cables, worth an estimated R200 000 were discovered concealed beneath cut wood branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We urge the farming community to stay alert for unusual activity, particularly suspicious vehicles that may be loitering on their properties,” says police spokesperson WO Mmako Mophiring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Community cooperation is vital in our fight against infrastructure crimes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspects, aged 36, 39, and 56, face serious charges related to damage to essential infrastructure and are scheduled to appear before the Petrus Steyn Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 1 October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
