The Moqhaka Municipality has significantly enhanced its operational capabilities by acquiring seven new vehicles for its municipal fleet. This strategic investment is expected to transform service delivery and reduce operational costs for the community.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent times, the municipality experienced several challenges with its fleet, such as outdated and broken vehicles, and had to make use of contractors.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The newly purchased fleet includes a diverse range of specialised vehicles: a grader, tractor loader backhoe (TLB), refuse truck, bob milling machine, cherry picker, crane truck and a tipper truck. These arrived on Thursday, 7 August. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This has been made possible \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
through the continued support of residents who consistently pay their municipal accounts.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spaski Geldenhuis, DA councillor, has highlighted the positive impact these new vehicles could have, saying these additions would address many of Moqhaka’s long-standing challenges.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality anticipates substantial financial savings by reducing contractor dependencies. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geldenhuis has emphasised the importance of accountability, advocating for GPS monitoring and log book registers to prevent vehicle misuse.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cllr Lousanne van Heerden of the Freedom Front Plus says a significant development is the permanent appointment of Portia Tshabalala as municipal manager after 16 months of uncertainty. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This appointment should enable the municipality to make critical purchases and address long-standing maintenance issues.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Municipal spokesperson Dika Kheswa added that these vehicles were essential for enhancing basic service delivery to residents.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
