{"id":79623,"date":"2025-05-22T11:51:14","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T09:51:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/vistanews\/?p=79623"},"modified":"2025-05-22T11:51:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T09:51:16","slug":"rich-influential-role-celebrated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/vistanews\/rich-influential-role-celebrated\/","title":{"rendered":"Rich, influential role celebrated"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One of Matjhabeng&#8217;s oldest residents and a landmark figure in the world of education in Kutlwanong and Thabong, turned 90 years old on Thursday, 15 May.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A momentous family celebration took place on 17 May, during which Lydia Motlagosebatho Molatedi was honoured amidst loving family members and friends. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Molatedi contributed immensely towards the education system in both the Kutlwanong and Thabong communities, having been a teacher for most of her adult life.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My grandmother and my grandfather, Tshedi Michael Molatedi, were both renowned teachers. My grandfather served as a headmaster during his lifetime, and their children also followed in their footsteps,&#8221; says granddaughter, Bontle Molatedi.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>&#8220;My grandparents met in Odendaalsrus and attended the Moroka High School in Thaba Nchu. They were married in Moroka in 1954.<\/p><cite>Tshedi Molatedi<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My grandparents met in Odendaalsrus and attended the Moroka High School in Thaba Nchu. They were married in Moroka in 1954. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They were blessed with their first child in 1956,&#8221; Bontle shared. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, the couple had six children &#8211; three sons and three daughters. Grandfather Molatedi passed away in 1989, at the age of 59.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matriarch Molatedi&#8217;s eldest daughter, Makgaje Angelina Molatedi, is still alive. Altogether, Molatedi&#8217;s children have produced 19 grandchildren, which has led to 18 great-grandchildren.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Molatedi taught in Kutlwanong at the Icoseng Public School, Rearabetswe Secondary School and, lastly, the Leboneng Special School in Thabong, Welkom, until she retired at the age of 57.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
