A 46-year-old Bultfontein woman has been arrested for Defeating the Ends of Justice and Perjury after opening a false kidnapping case at the Thabong Poice station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Facebook friendship that led to an arrangement to exchange a newborn baby at birth took a dramatic turn when the 24-year-old biological mother reclaimed her child two years later. This prompted the woman who had been raising the child to falsely report a kidnapping case at the Thabong police station,\u201d says Capt Loraine Earle, Corporate Communication and Liaison: Free State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “On 9 March, the Bultfontein woman reported at the Thabong Police Station that “her child”, a 2-year-old boy, had been kidnapped in Thabong.”<\/p>Capt. However, no evidence of a kidnapping was found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Further investigation established that the biological mother had collected the child on 9 March at approximately 09:30 from the Bultfontein woman. The biological mother then fraudulently registered the child at Home Affairs using the Bultfontein woman’s identity document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a result, additional charges of Fraud and Human Trafficking will be brought against both the biological mother and the Bultfontein woman for offenses allegedly committed in Bloemfontein.
