opposed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) in Matjhabeng has opposed the proposed 3% salary increase for councillors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf councillors are serving on this council for the money, then they are here for the wrong reasons\u201d, said Manie Pretorius, FF Plus councillor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He says in view of the current economic situation councillors cannot place more pressure on residents to fund an increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis council approved an unfunded budget, the question is how the proposed salary increase will be funded?\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Susan Taljaard, FF Plus proportional councillor, says that if council approves the increase it will send a negative message to those trying to assist Matjhabeng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed increase was accepted in principal by the ANC councillors on Tuesday (28\/06), but still needs to be
