On 4 June the House of Hope team experienced the beauty first-hand of sparing some time, investing creativity \u2013 which lies within each of us \u2013 and through that giving something to someone who expected nothing from you, but whose life is changed for the better by your gesture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So says Bernadette da Costa of House of Hope in Welkom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In celebration of House of Hope\u2019s 18th birthday, they launched a project which involved people from all walks of life. The cot project meant exactly what the slogan said: \u201cOne company, one cot\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith huge success, several companies \u2013 from attorneys to a rum distiller, schools and the private sector \u2013 from Welkom Henneman and Ventersburg came together to renovate 14 baby cots,\u201d says Da Costa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSince the project was started in 2004, these cots have provided much-needed safety, comfort and rest for no less than 500 babies. The first of which most of our babies had ever experienced,\u201d says Da Costa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says each of the sponsors carefully planned the renovation of their cot in the weeks leading up to the milestone birthday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn the morning of 4 June no less than 60 people got together at House of Hope, to meet our gorgeous babies, socialise with our team over a slice of cake and paint, decorate and ultimately revamp the cot allocated to them.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Da Costa says the project, despite being an immense blessing for House of Hope, made for an invaluable team building exercise for their sponsors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, the beauty that taking part therein brought for everyone involved, could be felt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
