Certainly one of Matjhabeng\u2019s oldest residents, Seithuti Adelina Monokoane passed away one day after her 104th birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She died from cervical cancer on Saturday (02\/07). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seithuti experienced the world at war, and at peace, in the more than a century she was alive. Born four months before the end of the First World War, she lived through the Second World War, and she lived to see change in South Africa being part of the first democratic elections in South Africa in 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seithuti was born on 1 July 1918, at Marantha in Odendaalsrus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She married Marakgake Champion Monokoane in 1954 in Marantha, Odendaalsrus. The couple then moved to Koos Maria Farm near Bronville, and a few years later they moved to a farm called Long Theunessien. She later moved back to Thabong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The couple had two children: Selloane Pan (68), who lives in Odendaalsrus, and Oupa Monokoane (64), who lives in Thabong. They also had 8 grand\u00adchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marakgake died in 1997. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until recently Seithuti lived in the 2010 section of Thabong in an informal settlement called Monna ha a latwe<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2021 Seithuti was treated for, and survived, Covid-19. This year she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She became very ill and had to go and live with her daughter Selloane in K5, Odendaalsrus, until she died on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday (09\/07) at 1801 New Stands 2010 Location (her home), at 07:45. Then at 08:00, the funeral procession will move to the Dr Mngoma Primary School, Thabong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
