Omphile Choane, a matriculant and RCL Chairperson 2022 at the Welkom High School has been selected as a national finalist in the Food, Energy and Water category of the Modiragatsi Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This competition is an innovation for the youth hosted by the North-West University (NWU) Business School in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering and sponsored by SETA and Siemens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Competitors had to identify a problem in their communities that they think could be solved by a mobile app or electronic device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n This had to be submitted on a Z-minutes video briefly describing a problem and how they plan to solve it.<\/span>On 7 April the national semi-finalists were chosen. There were 81 teams with 146 participants. They attended a 12 week online mentorship programme to develop their ideas at the end of the mentorship programme. Teams had to submit a video presentation and a final report to be selected at the national finalists in six categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Between 25 and 29 July, the finalist had an interview with the panel of judges and potential investors had to decide on the overall winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Omphile was also selected as the Top 15-finalist in the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT)
