author celebrated"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Welkom campus of the Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, hosted an event in celebration of renowned South African author, actor and playwright, Dr Khotso Nkhatho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebratory event took place on 16 November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An honorary doctorate in Communication and Language Practice was conferred on Nkhatho by the CUT as part of the 2020 virtual graduation ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over four decades, the much-celebrated Mosotho actor, born in Mmahabane, Ventersburg, contributed immensely to the conservation and development of Sotho in the Free State at a time when indigenous languages were not recognised as media of instruction in a multilingual South African society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His most popular play was <span><i xml_lang=\"en-uk\">Mopheme<\/i><\/span>, which aired in the 1980s on SABC television and radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dr Khotso Nkhatho foundation was also launched, and will ensure his
