It starts at the Welkom Technical High School, and is presented by Goudveld Multi Sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 42 km marathon attracts runners from across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first Mielie Marathon was held in 1979, with 99 athletes completing it, and in 1985 an astounding 665 athletes took part in the 42 km race. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years Hennie Griesel completed the second most Mielie Marathons with 21 races and a few 21 km\u2019s in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Runners can pre-enter at entryninja.com under the \u201cEvents\u201d tab.
