Members of Welkom Public Order Policing approached a well known drug dealer in one of Thabong\u2019s hostels and discovered a large stash of illegal drugs and liquor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, 2 February, police prevented a woman from destroying drug evidence during a raid at her premises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe tried to pour drugs inside a toilet to flush them. The police stopped her,\u201d says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police continued with their search and found and seized 323 full Mandrax tablets and R3 600. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Illegal liquor for which the owner of the premises could not provide a licence to sell, was also discovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two suspects aged 42 and 46 were arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following up on further information, the Welkom POP members proceeded to Paballong Village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA male suspect tried to flee, but the police gave chase and apprehened him,\u201d says Thakeng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They searched his shack and found 139 full Mandrax tablets and R109. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three suspects arrested during the second raid are aged 34, 39 and 42, and have been charged with dealing in drugs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
