Arno Erasmus (14) made Welkom and the greater Free State proud when he won first place in the 150cc class and second place in the Clubman\u2019s class in the first round of the South African short circuit series, held on a wet track in Vereeniging on Sunday (26\/02).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Young Arno went out on wet tyres during qualifying rounds but decided to change to slick tyres for the first race. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gamble paid off and he won the first and second race. The 150cc class, the biggest in the field, had a huge sponsor this year and he walked away with quite a bit of cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the second class, the Clubman\u2019s class (sub-400cc), Arno placed second, losing against the fast and talented KJ Monyane, who rides most of the year in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n The second leg of the championship is in March at the iDube Raceway in Camper\u00addown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Arno came first in his class (sub-400cc) during the international Classic Superbike Racing Association (CSRA) motor\u00adcycle racing event held at the Phakisa Freeway on 4 February. He took top honours during the race, the largest classic motorcycle racing class in South Africa. This event culminates with the Red Star racing series, hosting superbikes and a sub-500cc class for upcoming youths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n \u2013 Chrystelle
