Needy learners at the Tataiso Primary School in Monyakeng, Wesselsbron, received a pleasant surprise when the Wesselsbron police presented new school uniforms and shoes to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the Provincial Operational Co-ordination Centre (POCC), led by Brig. Khuto Khuto, sponsored the uniforms out of their own pockets. These much-needed gifts were handed to the learners on 21 April, during school assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was graced by Vuyiswa Buka-Koto, the chief education specialist in gender and diversity management at the Department of Education in Bloemfontein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The community policing officer, Sgt. Selleng Masheqa, together with the school\u2019s management team and pricipal, Puleng Madimang, assisted in identifying learners with needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his address, Khuto emphasised that the job of the police is to not only make arrests, but to also identify the needs of the community and see to it that they are met. Learners were also encouraged to continually listen to their educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, he shared with the learners that he was born on one of the farms in Wesselsbron and attended school there until his family relocated to Thaba-Nchu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe wished the learners and their educators well, and promised that the police will always ensure that learners are protected,\u201d says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media laison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
School uniforms were gifted to six learners, and cleaning materials and stationery were donated to the school. The principal and her deputies, Kenneth Letloenyane and Dorah Seakgwe, received the donations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
