Untreated leaks lead to substantial water loss and increased utility expenses for both the municipality and residents, while repairs and property damage impose additional financial burdens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The urgency to address the water leaks is heightened by the ongoing water crisis and water shedding measures. Unresolved leaks contribute to the depletion of water resources and exacerbate the challenges faced by the community. Therefore, the municipality must prioritise the immediate resolution of leaks to optimise water utilisation and minimise strain on our already limited supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ren\u00e9 Steyn, DA councillor for the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, says the persistent water leaks are causing significant hardships for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has suggested certain measures to be taken by the municipality to address this urgent matter, including swift response and communication, comprehensive leak detection and repair, regular infrastructure maintenance, resource allocation and planning, and transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
