The Northern Free State Clivia Club is hosting the annual Clivia Show on 9 and 10 September at the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) hall, corner of Stateway and Arrarat Road, Welkom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Judging, done by the esteemed clivia judge and expert, Andre du Toit, commences on 8 September. The show will be open to the public on 9 September from 08:00 to 16:00, and on the next day, Sunday, from 09:00 to 12:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis year, for the first time, the club is offering all clivia enthusiasts the opportunity of showing their beautiful plants. If you believe that you have a winning bloom, please bring your cut flower in water or as a potted plant to the church hall on Saturday morning before 11:00,\u201d says Pauline Mattana, club member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe winner will be announced at the end of the afternoon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The flower or plant must be clearly marked with the owner\u2019s telephone details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou may well even become the first Community Clivia Winner,\u201d says Mattana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enthusiasts are invited to bring friends and family along and enjoy this beautiful, indigenous plant in all its glory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The weekend holds much promise, as clivias will be on sale on both the Saturday and Sunday. There will be a food stall and refreshments will be available for sale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Northern Free State Clivia Club is open for membership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt present there are 22 members, and they meet quarterly. The club has been in existence for 16 years and started with only six members in 2007.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
