Various activities were conducted as part of awareness and in celebration of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The motto of the day was \u201cSee the world through the visually impaired\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 12 September prosthetic eyes were fitted at the hospital, free of charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this period an eye operations marathon (cataract removal) was also orchestrated. They focussed on 80 patients, and 50 operations were eventually performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These patients were admitted on 13 October and the operations were performed on 15 October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough these operations, the eyesight of 50 patients were restored,\u201d says Mkatsane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bongani Regional Hospital
