A 22-year-old woman and her 3-month-old baby have been brutally murdered in Meloding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two bodies were discovered by a neighbour on 16 April in Katanga, Meloding. Their throats had been slit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were identified by a next of kin as Zimbabwean national Ratiso Dhelngwayo and her child, Progress Mhofu. Both were certified dead on the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One suspect has been identified in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A charge of statutory rape was added to the murder charges after a family friend, who lives in Meloding, alleged that the deceased had visited her on 6 March and told her that the suspect had been raping her 12-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The neighbour said that the suspect had been locking the mother and her children in his house so that they could not report the rape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SAPS are investigating a double murder and a case of statutory rape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SAPS would like to question a Mozambican national known as Jesus Mhofu in connection with the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
