The Thusanang Soup Kitchen serves some 150 people weekly and is the initiative of Makhothatso Mpedi and Tshidi Pitso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is based in Stilte Meloding and has been operating since March 2023. The two woman feed mostly orphans, vulnerable children and the unemployed in their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In December 2023 the Checkers in Virginia came on board for a year-end function for the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mpedi says this kind of contribution is vital to their cause and that they cannot succeed without the generosity of sponsors and individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe feed the children and the unemployed out of our own pockets. The partnership we had with Checkers last year was the start of joint ventures going forward,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says when the local super\u00admarket heard about them, their manager Ivan Seipudi promised to help them as this is the only soup kitchen in Meloding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey are currently our only sponsor, and with their help we will be able to help more people,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Donations of food parcels, sanitary towels and other toiletries are welcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
