{"id":49502,"date":"2024-02-29T14:44:47","date_gmt":"2024-02-29T12:44:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/vistanews\/high-speed-chase-in-welkom-ends-in-crystal-meth-and-tai-drug-bust-20240229\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T10:21:21","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T08:21:21","slug":"high-speed-chase-in-welkom-ends-in-crystal-meth-and-tai-drug-bust-20240229","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/vistanews\/high-speed-chase-in-welkom-ends-in-crystal-meth-and-tai-drug-bust-20240229\/","title":{"rendered":"High-speed car chase in Welkom ends in crystal meth and Tai drug bust"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two suspects were arrested for the possession of crystal meth and Tai drugs after a high-speed chase in Welkom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the Welkom K9 unit spotted a yellow Toyota Passo parked suspiciously in Louis Street, Riebeeckstad, while performing crime prevention duties yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the occupants of the Toyota saw the marked police vehicle coming their direction, the driver sped off and the police gave chase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vehicle was found in Camilla Street, next to well-known flats in the vicinity. The Toyota stopped and two occupants jumped from the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were apprehended by the police, and the following items were found in their possession: a black plastic bag containing three small zip lock bags containing what was suspected to be Tai drugs; and six packets containing what was suspected to be crystal meth \u2013 with a street value of R1 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two suspects, aged 24 and 29 years old, were arrested for possession of suspected drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Images\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_6e78f6b8\">\n<div class=\"slide\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"drugs\" data-smallsrc=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/11124\/e1131c43110e4ccca00c0557c2bd576c.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/vistanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/8b406f2d3c0346c79c4118bb4c6bd122.jpg\" title=\"Bags containing what was suspected to be crystal meth and Tai drugs seized in Riebeeckstad, Welkom.
