Learners of the Kheleng Secondary School, Mosa Hlahane and Kamohelo Ralenki, have made their school and community proud by excelling in the Department of Water and Sanitation\u2019s (DWS) national competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition focused on promoting water quality, conservation, and sustainability through public speaking and Aqua Enduro challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is an initiative of the DWS to address the skill shortage in the scientific and engineering disciplines within the water sector at grass roots level. The idea is to engage young people in mental and physical activities that test their intellectual capabilities and stamina while learning about water and having fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the guidance of their educator, Sello Dhlamini (project master and mentor), the learners successfully navigated local, provincial, and national levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kamohelo secured a prestigious bursary with job security to study towards a water-related career, specifically hydronic engineering, at university next year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bursary covers all expenses, including a monthly stipend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mosa, although not placing in the national competition, demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication throughout the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis opportunity has empowered me to make a difference in my community and contribute to South Africa\u2019s water security,\u201d said Kamohelo after her achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
