The Gr. 1 learner of the Daluvuyo Primary School who was critically injured after a car struck him in Ndaki Road, Thabong, on 4 November has died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The child was admitted to the Bongani Hospital in a critical condition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The machines that were keeping him alive were switched off on Tuesday, 5 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sohosethu Hlathi (7) is described by his mother, Weziwe Hlathe, as an intelligent child at school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe had an excellent memory and a very good level of concentration. Above all, he was a good child,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is survived by his mother and father, Mojalefa Hlaole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday Vista<\/i><\/span>reported that this road had already claimed the life of a learner from the neighbouring Moremaphofu Primary School in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two other learners of Daluvuyo were injured in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Desperate pleas from the Daluvuyo school to have the dangerous issues on this road addressed, have seemingly fallen on deaf ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A teacher at the school, Tebogo Modisenyane, told Vista<\/i><\/span>that speed bumps, signage, and a decent and official pedestrian crossing would assist both learners and motorists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The spot where learners cross the road is near the Goldfields FET College\u2019s Tosa campus and the old graveyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is no curb, so these children have to walk in the road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Large roadside bushes cause blind spots for motorists and pedestrians alike, and the large potholes cause vehicles to suddenly swerve, risking pedestrians being struck in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Modisenyane says they have repeatedly reported this stretch of road to their councillor and the Matjhabeng Municipality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Gr. 1 learner of the
